Bills bills bills

Bills are everywhere you look. You’re paying them by phone, mail, this account, that account. Your student loan, car loan, home loan, water bill, cable bill. It’s hard to keep track of them all sometimes, and easy to forget one and get behind. Getting disorganized with your finances is way too easy to do, especially for a disorganized person like me. Papers everywhere, no idea what’s due when or how much I have where, and Thomas and I don’t have a joint account.

As hard and daunting as it all seems, there are services out there for free that you can sign up for to get all your finances straight and get your life in order. It makes the most frustrating part of life, money, simple and hassle free.  Websites like mint.com can also make finding the best online trading simple and less intimidating as well. finding a brokerage won’t seem like such an impossible thing to do when you have help from experts if you’re looking to expand your financial affairs.
Seeing all of your accounts, bills, and investments in one place is a breath of fresh air. No more getting behind on payments because you lost the paper bill somewhere in the huge stack you have lying around in a heap on your desk.

If Thomas and I could see all of our different accounts and bills in one place, I think it would make our lives a lot easier. It still wouldn’t help us have more money when we need it, but at least not having it wouldn’t come as a major shock.

  • I have been using Quicken for years and it’s great. You can update multiple accounts with the click of a button. It gives you a quick shot of where you are at currently, what’s coming up in the next month, etc. If you don’t like the idea of entering receipts after purchases, you can simply rely on downloading the info from your bank account. Easy!
